While, according to him, pressure on Serbia -- a country which is a guarantor of peace and stability in the region -- to recognise Kosovo is the wrong way.
“I think that recognising Kosovo is Serbia's only issue. To pressure the country for this would be the wrong way”, Strache told the Serbian daily “Politika”, broadcast Koha.net, before going to Belgrade, which will meet with Serbian Foreign Affairs Minister Ivica Dacic on Monday.
He has said his party, Freedom Party (FPO), has sharply criticised the recognition of Kosovo by Austria, but said this is a fact that cannot be changed.
In his words, Kosovo's north should have the right to self-determination or to have autonomy.
However, unfortunately, long and complicated talks --” are needed, he said.
He also said he hopes compromise will be reached within the dialogue in Brussels.
