In 2018, there has been the best chance of having a positive scenario for decision-making by European Union mechanisms for visa liberalisation for Kosovo, and the future is already unclear, connoisseurs of European integrations assess. According to them, obtaining visa liberalisation for Kosovo citizens, which would enable them free movement in the Schengen area, remains a challenge for the country's institutions.

Taulant Kryeziu of the Kosovo Institute for European Policy (EPIK), speaking of Radio Free Europe, estimates that 2019 will have a lot of confusion over the visa liberalisation process for Kosovo.

The first “, we have the Romanian presidency, from January. So, a place you don't know. Then, the issue of discussions about Brex, where we are seeing the last discussions happening. Next are the European Parliament elections. All of this makes the year 2019 rather unclear as to this visa liberalisation process for Kosovo. It would not be fair for institutional leaders of the Republic of Kosovo to mention the date in terms of this process. Not to raise the unrealistic expectations of our citizens. This is being done by politics to gain political points. In the end, they're increasing citizen frustration, but they're also losing political points”, Kryeziu said.
Jehona Lushaku-Sadriu, political and informed European integrations, says of Radio Free Europe, visa liberalisation remains a challenge for Kosovo institutions. But, according to her, not only for 2019, but also for 2020, it remains a question, if the inconsistencies of current EU politicians are taken into account, regardless of promises they had given to Kosovo.
