Avni had been out of work for three years. With production growth at the Sylejman Konushevci factory, 20 people were employed after the 100 per cent tax on Serbian and Bosnian products. Among them is Avni.
I've been unemployed for three years, but I had the luck of this time at the “Bio Oil” so that among 20 employees I could be there. We're working well, work is doing well. Thanks to the tax the Kosovo government has imposed on Serbia and Bosnia. I am satisfied with this job and I believe how long this tax will last for Kosovo citizens no longer need to wait in front of embassies to leave Kosovo”, says Avni Globoder, an employee.
“Dicu near 40 percent has increased sales and production. So, we've been forced to employ people because market demands are increasing by” every day, claims Sylejman Konushevci, owner of a company.
Economic Development Minister Valdrin Luka stressed that there have been meetings with the owners of the country's businesses, from which the tax has become known to have influenced the increase in consumption of local products, which, too, has affected the fight against unemployment.
When we're talking to local producers, everyone's reporting growing production. When it affects growth in production, it also affects growing employment. It's too early to talk about statistics on growing employment, but I repeat that it's a positive trend in all businesses”, said Valdzin Luka, minister of the MZHE.
Improving the employment prospects for Kosovo citizens poses a challenge to social and economic development, but Kosovars are more optimistic that more jobs will be created and unemployment will be eased. / TCH/
