The Spanish government has announced it will approve a 22% salary increase, meaning that salaries will increase from 813 euros to 900 euros per month.
The increase will take effect in January 2019. Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez made the announcement Wednesday.
The salary increases agreed together with the left-wing Podemos party as part of Socialist Prime Minister's efforts to ensure sufficient parliamentary support for his proposed budget for 2019.
The salary increase, initially expected to be officially set on December 28th, will be adopted by decree, after the cabinet was extremely expected in Barcelona on December 21st, in what Sanchez said was a sign his government wanted to promote “prosperity for all territories”.
