Serbia's Justice Ministry through a statement by Minister Nela Kuburovic has said Kosovo has refused to conduct investigative actions together with Belgrade in connection with the murder of politician Oliver Ivanovic.
Meanwhile, the Office of the Chief Prosecutor of Kosovo, through a media report, has made clarification about this statement, denying Serbian Minister Kubovic's statement.
“State Procurory, after the incident, has filed several requests to the competent bodies of the Republic of Serbia, for international judicial co-operation, but so far we have accepted only some information which is not essential for the lighting of the case, as we have not yet received answers to TIME, SMS, draft, as well as input/ex1>, is said in the news for the chief's office.
Furthermore, in announcing the chief state prosecutor is said to have been interviewed by Serbia's state bodies, without the request of the State Prosecutor of the Republic of Kosovo.
And in this response again has Serbia's Justice Minister Nela Kubrovic been declared, claiming that Serbia consistently answers Kosovo in its demands for the Ivanovic case.
The Organised Crime Procuror presented three requirements for mutual judicial assistance in Pristina January 16th, January 26th and February 14th. Even today, 10 months after the preamble of the requests, the Kosovo Prosecutor did not fully respond but only partially to specific requests,” said, referring to the media announcement of the chief Kosovo State Prosecutor's Office.
According to Kouburovic, Serbia has responded to all Kosovo State Prosecutor's demands regarding co-operation in clarifying Ivanovic's murder case.
The “Taking into account that one of the requirements put forward by Pristina to the Belgrade Organised Crime Prosecution contained many different requirements that were unclear and inaccurate, they are still in the process of treatment and the answers will soon be handed over to local authorities,” said Kubovic.
Kuburovic also stressed that Serbia is ready to respond constantly to all requests from Kosovo and that Serbia has waited eight months to receive information about the required evidence.
SDP leader Oliver Ivanovic was killed on 16 January this year in front of his party's offices in North Mitrovica.
