Although 80 schools in Kosovo possess their psychologist, the rest remain excluded from this.
In cases where school staff are missing psychologists, learning process for teachers and students is difficult.
The school's director, Ismet Gashi, tells Kosovo that in order to provide assistance to the students in need, he has sometimes tried to secure the school psychologist, but this has not been accomplished.
This weather school needed a psychologist. Because we have a great number of students who need to be treated through a psychologist. 43 students in class, 1-2 students with special needs, are making it very difficult for them to work in the teaching school... For 7-8 years now ready, it has been applying for a psychologist's admission in August because he needs this school for a psychologist. However, the lack of budget is not yet selected by psychologist”, he said.
Gashi says they have submitted requests to have even class assistants, but in the absence of the budget, says that has not happened unless parents with their own income have taken this action.
Ymret Resiti, chairman of the Council of Parents of Kosovo, also stresses the importance of the psychologist at school.
The circumstances in which education is found today and the problems facing education have, according to him, raised the issue of the importance that schools or municipal education directors should also employ psychologist staff.
And we're also interested in this as the Parents' Council, and we've done this address in competent institutions, which should start practicing teachers or psychologists at schools. The responses of the municipal directors given to us were what they were engaged in in adding staff to that municipality. However, we have proposed that it should be at the level of municipal administration to employ psychologists or professors, who will be responsible for all schools in that municipality. For example, if for a small municipality like Mamusha it's enough for a teacher or a psychologist, then for middle municipalities as a start, it would have sufficed four teachers and psychologists and professors... We think every school should have”, he said.
While the head of the Overall Education Division in August, Lulavere Behluli, has told Kosovo Press that it is well regulated by the employment of psychologists in schools.
The Ministry of Education shares the budget for the employment of professors as well as psychologists. But it remains in the competence of municipalities to employ needed cadres. Not rarely, the ministry, although it has allocated budgets for these categories, has replaced these jobs with other staff that they need... As for psychologists at school, we are aware that he needs schools for psychologists. We consider that in this regard, municipalities should better manage their jobs, in the sense of analyzing what framework they need most because schools, students need psychologists, because these services are missing within the schools”, she said.
Once, she has made known about Kosova priss, the number of schools that are owned by psychologists, until she said that rural areas lack them.
There are more psychologists in larger municipalities. It means, these municipalities that have the largest number of residents. Pristina leads with the largest number of psychologists and professors in school, while rural countries certainly have less, or have nothing... There are a total of 80 and they are distributed in various schools at the country level”, she said.
There is general agreement that the presence of psychologists in school affects the improvement of the learning process and is extremely beneficial both for students and for me
