Tens of Russian combat aircraft have reached a base in the Ukrainian Crimea region, which was annexed by Moscow in 2014.
Reuters news agency, has quoted several witnesses as saying they have seen Su-27 and Su-30 flyers arrive at Belbeck Air Base today.
This announcement comes at the time of tensions between Ukraine and Russia. Relations between these countries deteriorated further, as on November 25th, Russia seized three Ukrainian warships and their crew in the vicinity of the Kric Strait in the Black D.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said Ukraine is preparing a <x0-provocation” in this area before this year's end. Kiev on the other side, has accused Moscow of increasing its military presence near the border between the two states.
Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has said that Russia has deployed “over 800,000 troops, 1400 missile launching and artillery systems, 900 tanks, 2300 war vehicles” and hundreds of aircraft in the area.
