Authorities in Russia have reportedly unearthed the bodies of nine miners, who were trapped in a potassium mine, after which it was engulfed by fire.
Initially it was reported that authorities have found the bodies of eight miners, but later confirmed that the number is nine. The mine of the Russian manufacturer Uralcal, located in the town of Solikamsk on December 22nd, was engulfed by fire.
Prem Krai Governor Maxime Reethnicov said that “we have done everything possible to save the nine miners”.
“We have made six attempts to reach the miners, but efforts to extinguish the fire failed”, he added.
The fire broke out at a depth of 340 feet [340 m] in the mine at Solikamsk, located 2015 km from Perm City.
