He condemned the great division between the rich and the poor in the world, saying that the birth of Jesus in poverty should lead all to reflect on the meaning of life, Kosovo broadcasts. The Pope made these calls during the service at St. Peter's Basilica in the Vatican for the traditional Christmas Mass.
In his sermon, Pope Francis said that Christ's birth pointed to a new way of living “not by eating and amassing, but by sharing and giving”. “Let's ask: Do all these material objects and complicated recipes really need to live? Can we manage without all these unnecessary things and live a life of greater simplicity?
For many, the meaning of life is in possession, in excess wealth of materials. Unfathomable greed marks all human history, even today, when, paradoxically, some feed on the diversity of food, while others cannot feed on survival, said Pope Francis. This is the sixth Christmas of 82-year-old as head of the Roman Catholic Church.
