The police union has reacted after the murder of police official Izet Demaj, stressing that any attack on Kosovo Police members cannot be defined differently than violent acts and attacks on the state of Kosovo.
This union has also stopped at the police's health and accident insurance, saying the issue has been excessive with the delay.
Full communication:
Last night's tragic case with all citizens of the Republic of Kosovo having been killed by police official Izet Demaj has shocked and disturbed. This pain and concern are being shared with family members, with all Kosovo Police officers and citizens of our country. Izet Demaj is the 20th official to be in office since the founding of the Kosovo Police.
Izet was killed on duty, defending the lives and possessions of citizens, with the highest devotion and honesty, sacrificing his life.
Kosovo police are the police of the people of Kosovo, which in practice implements the most noble mission defined with the Constitution of the Republic of Kosovo, the Law of Police and other laws. All citizens, as well as state institutions, are on duty and offer them order, calm and security. They do this every day and they will continue, so we stress that any attack on members of the Kosovo Police cannot be defined differently than violent acts and attacks on the state of Kosovo.
It's already been a very long time since we're looking for health and accident insurance for police employees of the Republic of Kosovo. Sadly, though, we are still not in agreement with competent institutions to find solutions and give a positive epilogue to the issue. We stress that all Kosovo Police employees are aware of the challenges, sacrifice and risks that the exercise of this noble mission has carried, but it is excessive with the delay, which is unjustifiable for us, even after 19 years of the founding of the Kosovo Police, not to have health, accident and vital insurance for Kosovo Police officers. All cases so far, as well as last night's tragic case are powerful evidence that urgently, without wasting time in the country's institutions to resolve this cruise issue, vital to Kosovo police officers.
