Germany's Parliament adopted a law that enables the third gender in official documents, for people who do not identify themselves as male or female, or are born with an abnormality in sexual anatomy.
The German government in August approved the decision to include the third gender in birth certificates and other documents, Reuters reports.
Both parliament chambers voted the new law.
The LGBT community said the new measure is not enough, as they want new laws to make it easier for people who do not identify gender to change it in official documents.
The new gender category was adopted after the Federal Constitutional Court called on lawmakers to adopt legislation
