O'Connell: Kosovo has problems with corrupt politicians

In a brief statement through a video posted on Facebook, Great Britain's Ambassador to Kosovo, Ruairi O'Connell, has said that Kosovo has problems with politicians and corrupt officials, who work more for their personal or criminal interests than for the society they are interested in [...]
According to him, when corruption takes on regional and international proportions, there is room for organised crime and money laundering, which also harm the United Kingdom. For these reasons, we at the British Embassy in Kosovo work to support courageous people, such as the case of Murat Mehmet, an official of the Tax Administration, who works to fight corruption”, he said.
Ambassador O'Connell has said that this worker's case has raised the alarm for a major tax evasion scheme, so the British Embassy is training tax administration officials to uncover tax evasion and fraud because it is in Kosovo's best interests.
In addition, Ambassador O'Connell has said that the British state is also co-operating with the justice system and civil society in order to monitor the work of courts better and eradicate corruption. In addition to corruption, he has said another problem is nepotism, so this phenomenon must be fought so that the public administration serves the interests of the people of Kosovo.
