Yet, Milan now has another color in mind - the green!
The city has ambitious plans to plant 3 million new trees by 2030, a movement that experts say can help reduce the smog in the city.
In the heart of Milan, moreover, a green island has been built with residential towers known as “Pytic forest”, the construction of which was completed in 2014, in order not only to improve the quality of air but also the quality of the lives of residents.
High towers, filled on every balcony with trees and vegetation, absorb carbon dioxide and sections “PM10”, a pollutor that causes lung cancer.
Currently, the city has only 7 percent green and this figure is much lower compared to other European cities, such as Frankfurt by 21.5 percent, or Amsterdam by about 21 percent.
But by 2030, Milan hopes to increase this figure to 17-20 percent, making it equal to today's Tel Aviv.
