German Chancellor Angela Merkel urges Germany to play a leading role in developing artificial intelligence (IA).
If we want increased employment and well-being for all, then we should head the artificial intelligence sector”, Merkel said today in a video message.
“We are living in an era of digitalisation, which means that everything that can be digitised will be digitised”, the Chancellor said in the framework of a government summit regarding digitalisation tomorrow.
Artificial intelligence is seen as a key technology of the future, including autonomous vehicles, robots used in the health industry, and computers they teach themselves.
Merkel said the government plans to invest three billion euros starting in 2025 in the development of artificial intelligence within a broad national strategy, 21Media reports.
