Opening negotiations with Albania and advancing the entire region towards the EU serves not only the region, but is in its own interest to the EU.
So said European Parliament Foreign Policy Committee Chairman David McAllister during the meeting in Brussels with Albanian Foreign Minister Ditmir Bushati.
The head of diplomacy thanked him for the EP's continued support for Albania's EU integration process, demonstrated recently even in the adoption of the positive resolution on our country, which encourages the path towards opening membership talks during 2019, Tch reports.
The Bushat recognised McAllister with the performance of priority reforms undertaken by the Albanian government, with the focus of the Justice Reform, stopping especially in implementing “vetting”. They exchanged opinions on developments in the Western Balkans, as well as the performance of preparations for the upcoming European Parliament elections.
