Russian President Vladimir Putin has provided condolences for George H. W Bush, in a letter to the late president's son, former President George W. Bush.
“Please accept the deepest condolences for your father's death, George Herbert Walker Bush, former president of the United States. A prominent man who has served his country faithfully throughout his life... with a gun in his hands during the war and in high government positions during peaceful times” is written in the letter of the Russian leader.
“Understanding the importance of constructive dialogue between the two main nuclear powers, George Bush Sr has done much to strengthen Russian-American relations and co-operation on international security issues,” he added
President Bush was president at the end of the Cold War and was loaned by many to help preserve peace in Europe, while the Soviet Union was disbanded.
