See how Kosovo's young see their perspective in 2019

Young people from different Kosovo municipalities, the year they are ending, consider it ordinary as the early years, with political and economic impasses.
They hope that in 2019 there will be a greater prospect for all citizens.

Agnes Qorri political science student from the Crenasis Community says about KALLXO.com, that Kosovo lacks economic stability.

While, according to her 2018, it has been a failed year for Kosovo politics.

“Vitin 2018 on the economic side of Kosovo I appreciate better than last year, however, still lack economic stability in the country. As for the political aspect, the year 2018 has been failed for Kosovo. As after all those efforts to meet the criteria for visa liberalisation, Kosovo's foreign and domestic policy failed”, she said.

Agnes points out that during this year there was no progress in the dialogue with Serbia either, as according to her, Kosovo was attracted by some recognition of citizenship.

“While there were even some situations where Kosovo showed itself as determined with the tax on Serbia that I value as positive, and also the adoption of laws for the Kosovo Army”, she added.

Disillusioned by the events of 2018, Shpend Sylejmani of the Lipjan Community has also been expressed.

In the next year, in economic terms, Kosovo is like the past years, as there has not been much development. There are no openings of new factories in order to employ citizens, most of whom are unemployed and have the will and desire to find jobs”, he said.

Shpend adds that politics is not an area of interest to him, though it requires decision-making to benefit citizens.

I'm not that interested in political terms because it's getting monotonous listening to the same lies every year, as there is no progress in any field. However, politicians have to do much to make Kosovo's young and citizens have a better life here”, he said.

On the other hand, more pessimism for 2018 shows M. S, student from Pristina.

She said unemployment is the main problem facing citizens, especially young people.

“Eonomia is in the same standard as it has always been. High unemployment is the main problem. In the policy field, I have no specific opinion because I do not follow political developments because of politicians”, she said.

Meanwhile, Prizren Neziraj students from Junik say the figures for economic growth are exposing the number of unemployed in Kosovo.

“Viti 2018 may have economic progress in official statistics, but with it the number of unemployed is increasing and hope for a better perspective in our country” is decreasing, he said.

For Majlinda Ibrahimi of Ferizaj, the political and economic situation in the country has been an old ava.

Even this year we have heard various scandals and no institutional responsibilities, and I consider this political tradition an insult to the intelligence of citizens. Unless our intelligence is offended every day, we young people also fail to secure a proper well-being, and that is because prices are very expensive for our standard, while very low salaries”, she says.

According to Majlinda, the citizens' interest in migrateing to European countries is evidence of the youth situation in Kosovo.

There is no investment that has managed to lure me with even more convincing that there may be prospects here. So I guess many other citizens think. The most convincing evidence was the flow of thousands of citizens to Prizren to be informed about employment in Germany”, she stressed.

Even Fatlind Chocaj of Prizren, 2018, describes him as a political failure.

“While in terms of economic aspect, the job a citizen does compared to the amount of profit it receives or the payment produces a gender desire for evacuation from the country”, he told KALLXO.com.

What do young people expect in 2019?

Shpend hopes that more corruption will be fought in 2019 and more competitions for citizens' employment will be opened.

For next year it would have been good to minimize some corruption, since to eliminate it completely is not possible and give priority to people who are qualified for a certain job. And in this regard, it should not be seen which political party is the person who applies to the contests that are opened, even if, frankly, there are few working competitions in Kosovo”, he said.

Agnes, on the other hand, hopes that during 2019, the Kosovo Ministry of Foreign Affairs will take the job more seriously and lobby for new recognitions of the Republic of Kosovo.

Serbia should not be allowed to persuade other states to withdraw recognition of citizenship for Kosovo. To work harder to implement laws that are adopted, and to have co-operation with other states that consistently support us”, she says, adding that local export should increase in the country.

Meanwhile, M. The US aims to move from Kosovo and live in some Western country.

I don't expect anything, I don't even care what happens here because my aim is to move to the west like the whole youth of Kosovo”, she stressed.

According to Prizren, tomorrow is the product of actions taken today.

The years should not be expected to bring change to Kosovo, but I think at any moment we should try to make tomorrow different, have a better economic and political perspective, for each one to express his contribution and talent in our country”, he stressed.

Prizren hopes that Kosovo youth will feel appreciated and respected as employees for the coming years.

On the other hand, Majlinda has no high expectations for changes during 2019.

I have no expectations for any drastic change, but I just hope the political mentality first has reflection, where there are responsibilities and resignations for any failure by politicians because this current practice is very frustrating”, she said. /Periscopi
