Kosovo fills with New Year's pyrotechnic tools

December 31st of this year will be marked with more shots than last year. This has been in Kosovo so far, nearly 110 thousand kilograms of pyrotechnics, worth 111,000 euros. On the other hand, placing excises on these products has also contributed to increased smuggling, [...]

On the other hand, placing excises on these products has also contributed to increased smuggling, where over 10 tons of gunpowder have been confiscated. That's how the Ministry of Internal Affairs at least lets you know.

The market for the amount of fireworks imported to Kosovo has made it known to KosovoPress, Kosovo Customs spokesman Adriatic Stavileci.

According to him, China is home to the origin of the pyrotechnic means that enter Kosovo. Speaking of their quality, Stavileci says the gunpowder imported to Kosovo is controlled.

The origin of these fireworks is mainly from China... this product is actually a highly controlled product during import procedures, because the company that wants to import such a product should first get permission at the Ministry of Internal Affairs, then even conveying customs procedures from the moment to the company's warehouse is done again with the police. It is a product that is highly controlled and I don't think we've had any incidents within Kosovo with this product in terms of the derogatory”, he said.

While arms and ammunition division chief Destan Mustafa said fireworks used in Kosovo belong to European standards, respectively, the CE brand.

For secure storage and protection of the pyrotechnics, the Ministry of Internal Affairs has licensed four companies that even make their import.

Mustafa has stressed that as a result of the excise of 2 euros per kilogram, smuggling with these products has also increased.

According to him, by this time of year over 10 tonnes of fireworks have been confiscated, mainly at the customs point in northern Kosovo and at the customs point with Albania.

Even this year we will co-operate with local municipal inspectorates, mainly for uncontrolled sales like it happens on the streets, in squares... There's already been a lot of interest, but there's already been a lot of import earlier, but with the fact that the application of an excise from the Government of Kosovo which is about 2 euros per kilogram of fireworks, now that three years of import has dropped a lot, but there's also one more thing happening to us on the other side that has increased smuggling, we have especially noted last month that there's been a large smuggling of pirotechnics, and it's been two weeks since the Kosovo Police, Dogans confiscated over 10 tons of pirotechcology... With all the information from the north, but it seems to have added the point to Albania.

Even in the Kosovo Police, there have been attempted smuggling, so border police have received specific tasks for the end of the year.

Kosovo Police spokesman Bucky Kelani has also said that there will be increased police presence in locations where it will be celebrated for the weekend holidays.

Kosovo's “Police, just as any end of this year, will eventually prepare the operational police plan, which will be aimed at preserving public order and security, adding the police presence for different facilities, at locations where there is expected to be manifestations for last year's holidays so that citizens will feel more secure, and in order for police to act where there is a need for action... So right now, there has been an exchange of smuggling of various goods, including the share of fireworks smuggling, and for this reason the border police have received a specific duty at the end of the year, because we know that the smuggling of the year, he has added to the <14).

From this safety institution, parents appeal to their parents to be more cautious and alert in preventing the use of pyrotechnic devices by children in order to avoid the risk of explosive devices.

Otherwise, with the goal of increasing city security, the municipality of Rahovec, Suhareka, Drenas, Vushtrri, has banned the use and sale of pyrotechnic vehicles.

By ordering a ban on the use of pyrotechnic means in open public places, Pristina municipality has also emerged in markets, roads and squares, respectively. Even violators of this ordinance according to this municipality's announcement will be fined 100 euros.

We remember that by law the use of pyrotechnics is allowed, but that during the year pre-requisite permits should be obtained, and from December 26th to January 2, citizens do not need to apply to obtain permission to use the pyrotechnic means.

Kosovaress has also tried to get statements from fireworks vendors, rather than how interested citizens are to buy pyrotechnics, but they have refused to speak.
