KFOR commander in Kosovo, Italian General Laurenzo D'Addario for Serbian media, has said KFOR is willing to intervene in Kosovo if the stability of the region is threatened.
He also said the decision to transform the Kosovo Security Forces has been brought at the wrong time.
KFOR commander wants to continue with efforts by his predecessors to create a stable, secure and multiethnic environment for Kosovo citizens, fulfilling the mandate in line with UN Security Council Resolution 1244.
When I took office of KFOR's 23rd commander, it was the greatest honour in my professional life and I saw it as a great privilege. Our motto is continuous devotion and we chose this motto so that we can apply the joint efforts of all 28 NATO countries and partners. We are not alone, we work with other international organisations, both with local institutions and with neighbouring countries. In that spirit, our motto refers to the shared vision, shared purpose, and concentration in the common future”, Dãodario said.
DÉadario was asked to comment on the KSF's transformation, saying KFOR is not dealing with politics.
Dıdario also gave his position on the participation of Montenegrin soldiers in the KFOR mission and said it was very important for a neighbouring country to contribute to a safe environment and ensure freedom of movement.
Unlike last Friday, the Kosovo Parliament voted in the package of laws for the transformation of KSF into the Kosovo Army.
