Juncker: We do not hold Great Britain in the EU

It is often said that our goal is to keep the United Kingdom in the EU with all possible means. That's not our point. All we want is clarity about our future relationships. And we respect the referendum result of”, Jean-Claude Juncker, head of the European Commission, told the German newspaper Welt am Sontag in an interview.
Juncker said the EU was ready to start negotiations on a new agreement with Britain, shortly after the British Parliament approves the divorce agreement.
“I am working on the assumption that it will leave, because that's what the United Kingdom people have decided on”, he added, refusing to withdraw if Britain will hold a second BET vote.
For the other challenges Europe faces, Juncker said he was looking closely at US President Donald Trump's behavior for trade.
I trust him as long as he keeps his word. And if he doesn't hold it anymore, then I will no longer feel connected to my” word, Juncker said of tension between the EU and Washington about car tariffs.
He said he felt that EU citizens were growing increasingly, another problem to resolve ahead of parliamentary elections throughout Europe in May.
