In the Kosovo Journalists' Association, they say they have accepted numerous complaints by journalists who have sought transparency from various public institutions in the country, who are paid by citizens' taxes.
Co-operation between information officials from various local public institutions and journalists of various media is quite poor, and the latter often have no answers to various topics. KTV journalist Ardiana Thaci considers that the closure of information offices for journalists is done in order to silence the news. She says problems in this direction are presented most frequently with the State Prosecutor's Information Office and the Ministry of Infrastructure.
But they're wrong. Because if the information is even without their statements, we'll go away. I want to now mention the State Attorney and the Ministry of Infrastructure. With these two I have multiple problems because I send a lot of emails during the week”, she said.
While Valon Fana, an independent journalist, tells of the difficulties he faces in receiving information from the Pristina Community Information Office. He says that besides writing requests to municipal officials, he is forced to call many times on the phone, but they do not answer.
The “is a negligence on the part of officials in the Pristina municipality. And if you try to contact other officials at the principal, it's impossible, they don't even call. I'm trying to contact Miranda and Adonis Tahiri, but it's impossible”, he said.
And the Kosovo Journalists' Association says it has accepted many complaints by journalists of various media who require transparency and greater access.
Besiana Krasniqi, from AGK, says the inadequate approach of information officials to journalists makes their work very difficult. Krasniqi stresses that they are looking at the possibilities of improving this situation along with the OSCE and other institutions.
“Have another approach of these public officials in reporting with journalists, so that they can meet directly with journalists, because you can ask questions, questions, and everything else to meet the topic or concern appointed”, she said.
Members of the Kosovo Journalists' Association Institute say this institution will do its best until better communication is made possible by institution information officials with journalists. This is their duty in order that they may respond to their taxpayers.
