Hoxha: Visas, EU Injustice

Next Tuesday, the European Union presidency will take over Romania, a state that does not recognise Kosovo's independence and prevents the country from membership in international organisations. During the six-month period this state will have the EU presidency, Kosovo will have very difficult progress in the process of liberalising [...]
Minister Hoxha insists that the European Union has been unfair to Kosovo since it, according to her, has met all the criteria, but it has not been given the green “=x1> for visa removal.
“Since taking the Guide in 2012, visa liberalisation has been addressed with priority at all levels of Kosovo institutions. EU relief factors, from the European Parliament, the European Commission and the European Council, as well as all commissionors dealing with the issue of liberalisation have confirmed our procedures and achievements. All of them, indiscriminately, have confirmed that we have met all the conditions for liberalisation, so this decision on the failure of visa liberalisation in December was a huge injustice”, it said of Zeri.
It has called the EU's behaviour paradoxically against abolishing Kosovo's visas. The “was injustice for many reasons, because our expectations have been based on facts, on our achievements, but also on the principles Brussels acts with. We see it as paradoxically not liberalising visas, because free movement itself is among the EU's greatest achievements, so Kosovo remains in the ghetto is more than injustice. We have in no way expected this, because the realisation of bilateral obligations is essential for the values it feeds, manifests and applies to the EU”, it stressed.
Meanwhile, regarding steps the ministry will take in the coming year, Hoxha has said that it will continue lobbieing the EU states on visa removal.
