One of the reports came from Fox News, a medium in which Nauert used to work as a moderator.
That is after Nikki Haley announced in October that she would leave this position at the end of the year.
Nauert, 48, has been appointed as US State Department spokeswoman in April last year, thus winning the first government position.
Fox News said Trump would announce this appointment via a tweet Friday morning, until Bloomberg said he understood this news from three sources.
State Department has not commented on the matter.
Haley has already served in that position for two years.
The former governor of South Carolina, at once one of the few women in Trump's cabinet, has given no reason for her departure, but has rejected plans that she intends to run for president in 2020.
Trump on the other side said Haley did “a fantastic job”.
