The killing of the Albanian in Corfu by a Greek citizen, who is said to be part of Golden Dawn extremists, has brought a series of reactions.
In their wake is that of SYRIZA deputy in Corfu Fotini Vaki, who speaks against murder because of Greek nationalism while taking a strong stand.
In very touching words, the Greek MP says:
How many other immigrants will we mourn as victims of racism that begins from the “purity of the Greek race”?
How much business of patriotism is still needed, that the ideological descendants of the Nazi cross (Swastica) that crushed the country arm a hand to kill an innocent victim?
For how many slogans like democracy betrayed Macedonia, how much nationalist poison for students, how much desecration of monuments and memory places, for how many vague screams, about how many links of angry crowds do we need to break the snake egg?
How much of the desecration of history about a knife in the heart of the Khwajijit, of the Albanian, of the projevgu-skupian and of the objectors?
Now it was Peter Zilf's turn, “z. Petros”, Albanian land worker.
In Corfu, where ideas of Enlightenment, democracy and left always found fertile space, there is no room for fascism”.
With the same force, she condemns her SYRIZA party's murder as she seeks constant and strong fight against racism.
The brutal murder of 63-year-old worker Petrit Zilf's Leifmi of Corfu was a racist crime by a member of Golden Dawn, the case for which justice should be given immediately.
Confirmed in the most tragic way, once again, that criminal organization sows hatred by arming the hands of people against humans.
This case reminds us, however, of the responsibility of all of us to strengthen our fight against racism and nationalism and those who cultivate intolerance in Greek society.
And, of course, the punishment of racist and nationalistic hatred should not be done in half a word or after events, but accompanied by constant and daily warfare against its manifesto”, it is written in SYRIZA's latest announcement.
