Government Blocks Election Actions in the North

The government has blocked actions leading to early elections in Kosovo's north, under the reason that the heads of the four municipalities in the letter of resignation have not referred to Kosovo with constitutional condemnation. Ten days ago the chairman of northern Mitrovica, the president of Leposaviqi, Zvecan and the chairman of Zubin-Potok declared the resignations, as a sign of 100 per cent-scale dissatisfaction with the tax that the government has imposed on products originating from Serbia, as well as the arrests of Serbs suspected of the murder of Oliver Ivanovic.
They have also declared breaking communication with Kosovo institutions. And in the letters of resignations that have been deposited in the Ministry of Management of Local Power, Kosovo has referred to Metohija “and Metohi”, the appointment Serbia uses for the state it considers its own province.
