EU chief has a request for Kosovo

The head of the EU office in Kosovo, Natalia Apostolova, at the opening of the Anti-Corruption Week, said Kosovo has made good laws for its fight, but that, according to her, they should be implemented in practice. “We as the European Union have a goal of fighting this dangerous phenomenon, which remains deep [...]
“We like the European Union have a goal to combat this dangerous phenomenon, which remains deep in many areas, corruption and undermines Kosovo's image, undermines confidence in institutions. We have asked Kosovo to fight corruption through agreements thus far. These policies remain in the hands of Kosovo politicians, there have recently been good laws for fighting it, penal code, the law of informants, but that their adoption should be implemented”, Apostolova said.
She also added that strengthening accountability and transparency is one of the key issues.
“We urge Kosovo to carry out reforms as soon as possible, because corruption does not develop Kosovo, it does not create new jobs, better economies, better living conditions and its image in general. Today the week of corruption is beginning and we need to know that fighting corruption is that it wants commitment every day of the year and only a joint action will bring a better future”, Apostolova stressed.
