Low current price for Serbs in the north, false news

A last year's decision lowering the electricity price for Kosovo citizens was misinterpreted in the media today as electricity prices for northern municipalities.

News that majority Serb municipalities in Kosovo has been released to the electricity price circulated across online media foreheads, disseminating an incorrect information.

These titles were prompted by a statement by Izet Rushiti, a member of the Energy Regulatory Office board, which reported today before the Parliamentary Commission for Human Rights.

ZRRE, which is the body responsible for regulating energy tariffs, today reported on the implementation of recommendations dealing with the fate of electricity spent in the four northern municipalities of the Republic of Kosovo, approved by the Parliament at the plenary session held on February 9th 2018.

A ZRE decision, in 2012, had caused the costs of electricity in northern municipalities to be billed to citizens of the rest of Kosovo, on behalf of energy losses.

This ruling was suspended by the fundamental and Appeals Court following the indictment filed by the ombudsman's Office, which considered that paying citizens for someone else's expenses is a violation of human rights.

That is the fact Izet Rushiti mentioned today, which can be seen in the video posted by the Economy Online news agency that was misinterpreted by other media.

After the Constitutional Court and Court of Appeals ruling in 11,09.2017 on the postponement of the decision or execution of the 2012 decision, the ZRE has cut the coverage of the costs for electricity supply to northern municipalities and the one time after that decision has been made under the price reduction under the decision made by ZRE and December 1st, the price of electricity has dropped by 3.5 per cent, and that date has stopped covering the costs for electricity for these municipalities <18x> said Rush at the Parliamentary Commission today, Calx.
