Old Bush had helped a child for 10 years anonymously

A charity has discovered former US President George HW Bush's secret rock of letters with a Filipino boy who was sponsored over a 10-year period.

Bush used a nickname, while the boy at the time was 7 years old, had no idea who he was who took on his food and schooling expenses.

Bush, exchanged letters for 10 years with the boy under the name of George Walker,

His son Timothy learned the identity of his mentor when he left his charitable scheme at the age of 17 and was very surprised, said charity organization, CHAMpassion International.

The organisation discovered some of the letters in Colorado Springs Gazette and later in an interview with CNN, Kosovo Press broadcasts.

Bush, the 41st US president, died in November at the age of 94.

One of the letters says:

“Dear Timothy, I want to be your new friend”, Bush said in his first letter in 2002, using his nickname, combination of his first and third names.

“I'm an old man, 77, but I love kids, and although we haven't met, I love you”, he wrote.

I live in Texas. I'll write you back and forth. ”
