Mrika Nikqi is the first Albanian in the world, who, along with her father, occupied the highest peak of the seventh continent, Antarctica. On December 16th, at 9:30, they scale top Mount Winson, 4892m high, to the extreme cold of the icy continent, where they even raised Kosovo's flag for the first time.
But everything didn't go well, just like you expected for this pair. During their return to Kosovo, father and daughter have faced many difficulties because of extreme weather.
They have been stopped at a camp on December 17th along with other mountaineers who are staying blocked by the harsh weather in a tent and temperatures up to -40 degrees Celsius.
The Alpinists ' association and family say they have contacted Antarctica's expedition base. They have shown that despite their attempt to take them by helicopter, this has been impossible. More alarming for this team is the fact that food reserves decrease daily and more, while low extreme temperatures make it very difficult to stay there.
However, for their good fortune, closer communication has been possible between e-mails. They have confirmed that on December 29th the weather is expected to improve, which will also enable them to return home. / KP/
