The Kosovo Competition Authority (AKK), along with the Market Inspectorate, which operates under the Ministry of Trade and Industry (MTI), has a primary duty to monitor prices in the market after the government's 100 per cent move on products originating with the Serbian state of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Traders who are exploiting the 100 per cent move on products of Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina are placed under the authorities' pipe. The leaders of the Kosovo Competition Authority have warned the newspaper “Voice” that they have placed themselves in charge of preventing companies, which have used the measure to raise prices on the market.

On the other hand, Market Inspectorate Chief Inspector Lulzim Syla has indicated that 140 fines have so far been imposed on consumer fraud businesses in general, where there is no exception for bread price fraud, Zeri writes.

We have 140 fines pronounced this year, mainly for consumer fraud. There have been other things we've issued. Fines are mandated that we give up to 1,000 euros. We also send them to the courts. Every day we're performing inspections. Someone goes to Peja, to Gjakova, to Ferizaj. We also have inspections at the bakery anyway, but even in stores that compare the shelf prices”, Chief Inspector Syla indicated.
