As the Croatian newspaper “Vecernji list” on October 27th completed the report on the Kosovo Armed Forces, and where part of them are the Kosovo Serbs, Serbia's president, Alexander Vuciq, who has immediately invited Serbs not to be part of the Kosovo Army, is said in the rotating text of this newspaper.
Serbia's president's call to Serbs for “Vecernji list” has even commented on Kosovo Parliament Speaker Kadri Veselini, accusing Vucinqiqi of manipulating Kosovo Serbs.
In light of the protests coming from Belgrade, we are determined to establish the Kosovo Army and there is no going back”, Veselin said.
We will do this together with the international community and we are in permanent contact with the United States, as well as our partners from NATO, Germany, France, Italy, Croatia, Great Britain... Due to pressure from Belgrade, the Serbian List has been contained during the Kosovo Army laws vote and openly have said they are against it. We had two options about the initiative to form the Kosovo Armed Forces. The first, through the law on transforming the Kosovo Security Forces into Armed Forces, and second through changing the Constitution, which was not possible to take place because the Serb List was opposed. Therefore, we have decided in the transformation for which there was no need 2/3 of deputies, nor support from the Serbian List”, Veselin said.
He has also stressed that Kosovo is a country that wants peace and good interethnic relations, not war.
According to him, transformation does not mean that Kosovo wants war or will develop aggressive politics, as Vuciqi wants to present.
This “fully understands our citizens of Serbian nationality, who despite pressure from Belgrade, have joined the Kosovo Army. By the end of the year, the Kosovo Army will be fully formed. The military's goal will be to fight terrorism and the global threat not only to Kosovo, but also to other countries in the region, including Serbia. What Vuciqi opposes and invites Serbs not to engage in the Kosovo Army is neither human nor correct. We are an independent state and Serbs living in Kosovo are equal citizens of the Republic of Kosovo”, Wessel has said among other things.
