It brought an end to a four-year war that crippled Europe, leaving 17 million people dead among them nearly 1 million Britons, Periscope follows.
As we approach the cent anniversary of the 11 November truce, the Imperial War Museum has released a recording of the moment the war ended.
The artillery activity illustrated was recorded on the American front near the Moselle River, a minute before and one after the war ended.
After hearing that part, Tom Davidson said: “This footage caught me completely unawares. How touching. ”
