Thaci: Along with US, co-ordinating steps for agreement with Serbia

Kosovo President Hashim Thaci has told the media about the importance of the visit and the content of the meetings he will have with Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, President Trump's National Security adviser and congressmen and numerous senators.

President Thaci has stressed that there will be numerous meetings in the US and that the purpose of this visit is co-ordination with Americans for recent steps, prior to reaching the agreement between Kosovo and Serbia.

“Since we are in the last steps of reaching the Kosovo-Serbia agreement, it is necessary that my presence in Washington to co-ordinate with Kosovo's eternal friends for reaching an agreement between the state of Kosovo and Serbia, that it will be effective, implemented and achieve a larger international consensus”, Thaci said before meeting with Secretary of State Mike Pompeo.

He has also stressed that at this time it is important that there will be a consensus both within Kosovo, taking advantage of the moment created for reaching agreement with Serbia.

According to him, the agreement will guarantee mutual recognition between Kosovo and Serbia and its membership in NATO, the EU and the UN.
