Statement of elections in the north, constitutional obligation

The resignation of the mayors of four mainly Serb-populated northern municipalities will be irreversible, even if they can stop the reasons for which they have taken the move. The constitutional consequence of their decisions is the announcement of early elections in the north on the part of the president of State, Time writes today [...]
Last week the mayor of northern Mitrovica, the Leposaviqi one, Zvecan's and Zubin-Potok's chairman, declared the resignation, as a sign of dissatisfaction with the 100 per cent tax that the government has imposed on products originating from Serbia, as well as the arrests of Serbs suspected of the murder of Oliver Ivanovic. They have also declared breaking communication with Kosovo institutions. Despite this, other Serb mayors have not followed their path.
In 2010 a precedent has been set that sanction the irreversibility of the resignation decisions. This year, he resigned from the head of the Rahovec municipality and declared Qazim Qeska, shortly after the votes had confirmed him on the job. It had been delivered to the press communiqué and had also informed the Ministry of Management of Local Power. The departure was not backed by Hashim Thaci, then the party chairman to Qeska. As a result, he had returned to his office, showing that he had regretted his resignation.
