The largest international police organisation, Interpol, has elected its new president.
Although the favourite was considered Russia's representative, Alexander Prokokuk this time won this post by Kim Jong-yang from South Korea.
Jong-yang defeated Russia's Prokokochuk, who was a veteran of Russia's Ministry of Internal Affairs. On the other hand, taking this position from him was also considered to be an increase in Putin's influence.
Even a group of American senators in their opinions had said that his choice would be similar to that of “the establishment of a fox at the top of” or even “Mafia deployment at the helm of this organisation”.
Similarly, Lithuania had also threatened to exit Interpol if the person in question was elected president of Interpol.
Kim Jong-yang from South Korea will be distributed as interim president for two years, replacing former Interpol President Meng Hongwei's mandate.
