The EU and Great Britain have agreed to a draft agreement on their future relations, paving the way for the Brex agreement to be finalised this weekend.
“Political Declaration describing how trade, security and other issues will work is agreed in principle,”- The European Council said.
London and Brussels have already agreed to the terms of the United Kingdom exit from the EU on March 29th, 2019.
Theresa May will issue a statement to MPs Thursday.
European Council President Donald Tusk said on Twitter: “I just sent to the EU27 a draft Political Declaration on Future Relations between the EU and the UK. The president of the Commission has informed me that it is agreed on at the negotiating level and has been hired in principle on the political level, depending on the leadership's approval. ”
If the withdrawal agreement and political statements are signed at the EU summit Sunday, the prime minister will turn its attention to the adoption of the agreement in the United Kingdom Parliament, where most are thought to be in its favour.
