The new regulation of lehonia and parenting rest is being seen as discriminating to fathers.
The Ministry of Labour and Social Management has started working on changing the law that regulates lehonia and parenting.
This bill envisions a 9 - month break for a mother and ten days for her father.
A group of joint organisations from Democracy for Development and the Women's Economic Forum said this type of proposed model affects women's appearance in the labour market and discrimination of men.
Ajete Kricki from the D4D organisation for the Kosovo programme ey jeta, unveiled the pattern these organisations have proposed.
Our “Our model has been to be more equally divided between both parents in order to be a better balance between working life and private life. The whole idea has been to enable the return of women to the job market earlier in order to prevent the discrimination women currently experience....”, Kryceli said.
She added that more must be done in preventing discrimination of women at work.
Our “Prequency is that the model proposed by the government is continuing to maintain the idea that women have the primary duty to care for the child by offering them the largest monthly delivery for their mother compared to their father. So an employer sees a potential woman of reproductive age as a woman who can leave her job ... she can give her business a more reason to continue to discriminate against women at the place of work”, Krick said
Regarding the idea that fathers have paid parenting, Labour and Social Management Minister Skender Recica said this cannot be considered at this time, as according to him there is a lack of budget.
“We need to be careful about drafting the bills, we can have very different provisions because the letter can probably take advantage of the assembly, but the problem is financial stability, we need to be careful in that direction, so there's not supposed to be a parenting vacation for a father at a cost of”, said Minister Recica.
Regarding this bill on Kosovo's life show, criticism came from civil society, while the same was praised by businesses.
On the other hand, the Minister of Labour and Social Management shows how he is planning to prevent discrimination by women in the labour market because of his breaks?
Unionists and business representatives also discuss the subject.
