In his initial address, France's ambassador to Kosovo, Didier Chamber, conveying the message of France's president, Emmanuel Macron, said that on November 11, 1918, a deep relief spirit swept through France.

We have gathered for this November 11th to commemorate victory, but also to celebrate peace. We are gathered in the municipalities, before the monuments of the fallen to be homazhe and to express our gratitude to all those who protected us yesterday, but also to all those who protect us today, sacrificing their lives”, said Didier Chamber.

Ambassador Chaber, among other things, said they have gathered today consciously to remember their past history and thus refuse to repeat the same.

We remember the suffering and honor of the ten million warriors of all countries that were sent to these terrible battles. French people, we are also gathered today aware of our past history and refuse to repeat it. Because the century that separates us from the terrible sacrifices of women and men from 1914 to 1918 has taught us how fragile peace is. We know how strongly, nationalism, totalitarianism, can overcome democracies and endanger the very idea of civilization”, Chamber said.

In addition to Ambassador Macro's letter, it was said that they should be worthy of the memory of women and men who fell a century ago.

Present at the ceremony were representatives of institutions in the country, accredited ambassadors in Kosovo, military and other personalities.

Prime Minister Haradinaj placed wreaths of flowers in honour of the fallen in World War I.

Haradinaj said the way France and Germany have shown to build lasting peace in Europe is an example to follow.
