Infrastructure Minister Pal Lekaj, in May of this year, had promised that the work of this road would be completed within 55 days.
However, MI and the Pristina municipality do not have any precise date when road expansion will be finalised.
The project manager from the Ministry of Infrastructure's office, Skender Cannolly, has been talking about collosos.com that it is difficult to give a date when exactly the work will be finished.
“LOT 1 (left direction Pristina-Veternik) has completed all works, and there the communications is developing normal. While LOT 2 (right direction Pristina-Vecernik) because of the situation on the ground has major difficulties during the execution. The dynamics of development are slower. As a consequence of this at the moment, it is difficult to give an exact date for the conclusion of this”, he said.
According to Canol, the ministry is making efforts to get the project completed well, while adding that they are almost at the end of this year's construction season.
While Pristina Mayor Shpend Ahmeti at a news conference, he has voiced optimism that the road will be completed soon.
Because it's a magical route, it's an Infrastructure Ministry project and we've discussed it. The main issue is the bridge, where we've had problems with the street collapse over and over again. The ministry has informed me that they are seeing the possibilities of resolving the problem even with KFOR to find one, I would say, immediate solutions to establish the bridge until necessary repairs are made”, Ahmeti said.
Pristina's first one has blamed past governance for the current road situation in Veternik.
The last “The last time it was due to an electoral process at the central level has accelerated to take place faster, and when you hurry because of the election processes... you're talking more, but it's caused a lot of other problems, which we're now trying to do with the sau and address with the Ministry of Infrastructure”, Ahmeti concluded.
The 3 million-strong project for expanding the road into the eight-lane entrance of Pristina was inaugurated on April 18th of 2017.
