Marine Le Pen, head of the Communist Assembly Party, formerly known as the National Front, called on protesters to head towards Paris's main Boulevard, Champs-Elysées, though authorities had banned the development there of demonstrations.
The French Interior Minister made these comments as police used tear gas and water pumps to disperse hundreds of angry demonstrators gathered today in Paris to protest roadblocks on the road, under the leadership of car drivers who oppose the country's fuel hike and management by President Emmanuel Macron.
The protests held throughout France in the last few days included 23 thousand people -- 5,000 of them flooded into the Champs-Elysees Boulevard. Interior Minister told reporters that the protest has weakened.
Thousands of policemen were sent to take control of angry demonstrators. During a week of demonstrations, where the protesters held placards in their hands with the words “tax deaths”, two people lost their lives and hundreds of people suffered injuries.
The political situation in France is seen as an indication of discontent with President Macron, who is accused of indifference to life's difficulties for the common French. / VOA/
