Northern Serbs have distanced themselves from any position they hold in Kosovo institutions. Four mayors have resigned this morning, the Mitrovica Foundation Court has been completely closed. The Kosovo government, part of which is officially List Srpska, has no stance on developments taking place in the north.
Avni Arifi, chief of staff of Prime Minister Ramush Haradinaj, has told Gazeta Express that the government still has no stance on successive resignations that occurred today in northern municipalities, which were headed by the Serb List.
“Akoma do not stand on this matter”, Arifi said February.
Arifi, questioned whether the government has received any signals from List Srpska that they will leave the government and Parliament, has said they have not talked to them.
We don't have any indicators and no information from them”, Arifi said on Tuesday.
The Express newspaper has reported that four Serb mayors, including Goran Rakkiqi, who headed northern Mitrovica, have resigned today. Similarly, the Constitutional Court of Mitrovica has confirmed that Serbian workers from today have boycotted the job.
Numerous developments have occurred recently in northern Kosovo. Even today, Serbs have appeared in the square of northern Mitrovica to protest the government's 100 per cent tax decision on products imported from Serbia.
In protest, along with other Republika Srpska leaders, Express reports that Government Minister Haradinaj Nenad Ricalo is also participating.
List Srpska officials continue to hold ministerial positions, though they have been ignoring government meetings for several months. Meanwhile, weeks ago, the 10 deputies of Republika Srpska List have offered their signatures to bring down Government, which is part of which they themselves are part.
