Deputy Prime Minister Dardan Gashi has commented on Austrian Chancellor Sebastian Kurz's statements, which he said represented the EU's stance regarding the Kosovo-Serbia dialogue.
“The EU's got red lines, I'm making it conditional on dialogue. The same do not have most EU member states. The EU as a collective has not expressed any definition of the” dialogue.
There is no tendency or claim to get involved in our affairs. But the suggestion is that we have to be creative to find a permanent solution with Serbia”.
Gashi has praised that political unity is lacking in Kosovo regarding negotiations with Serbia.
According to him, it is necessary to create a platform as soon as possible, and that the current momentum does not cause the loss of a final agreement with Serbia.
“We need to be aware that Serbia is entering negotiations for a reason. Serbia's path to the EU leads through Pristina, through dialogue and finals between Kosovo and Serbia. At one point, the EU can tell Serbia that we are negotiating membership, while Kosovo is specifically dealing with it. It's not like we're gonna be expected. That's what our friends have been telling us all the time.
