(8 years ago)The Firefighters Union has held protests today in front of the Government building, in sign of revolts and discontent over the difficult position it has occupied the country's fire service, especially with the failure to fulfill promises by institutions that promised in the July protest. Through the protest they demanded that their legal status be adjusted, to ensure budgetary lines and to level wages with other emergency services, to compensate for overtime work, night shift, weekend work, and holiday days, to compensate medical services from injuries at the workplace, and to have adequate equipment to do their job because current equipment is extremely minimal, and every day their safety and health are endangered at work.
The protest began from the parking lot of the Youth Palace defiling square feet “Zahir Pajaziti” to the Government object.
Even the Union of Independent Trade Unions of Kosovo (BSPK) has voiced support for the Fireship Union over the warned protest.
The BSPK expresses regret over such procrastination that has been done to this category of workers in the selection of very essential issues related to their most rights from the working relationship, as well as to the already discriminated against firefighters, so it requires relevant institutions to reflect more quickly on meeting the demands of this category of workers.
