It declared Albania's independence, but Ismail Qemajli appears not to have been much “pure” in politics. According to Faik Konica, the then former head of the provisional government, has been corrupted by the soul and customs, a man without ideal and principle, and a person who has been ready for all compromises.

Faik Konica had provided an interview for “Universul” on January 10, 1914, where Ismail Kemal and Esat Pasha were questioned, while his response has not been positive.

“Ismail Bey Kemali, a “file” Byzantine, corrupted by soul and customs, without ideal or principle, ready for all compromises. Esad Pasha is a medieval “condotier”, which neither knows the methods nor does he have the people of a modern statesman. It's from Abdul Hamid's school, from which he's kept a live plaster. But it is energetic and could be used to restore order in Albania if well - directed. By their nature you will also understand their” actions, Konica had said in an interview in 1914, two years after Albania led by Ismail Kemal was declared independent.

This is Konica's full interview for “Universul” on January 10th 1914:

What is the internal political situation in Albania, do political parties exist there, and what are their programmes and views? Do their political programs depend on religious beliefs?

In Albania, there are two major parties, which are not yet organised eventually -- the liberally-summer nationalist party and the conservative, spirit-impeding Turkish reaction party. The generally cultivated class and the Albanians of Romania and America are part of the first, Muslims and Greeks with schools conducted in Istanbul constitute the second. Religious beliefs do not enter the formation of these two parties.

Nationalists wanted administrative autonomy and use of the Albanian language at the time of the Turkish regime, while I, with my group, was to separate from Turkey. The reactionary party wanted, rather, the status quo and preservation of Turkey's union. After the [Balkan] war, A. P.] nationalists adjusted the program by looking for a new state, with new concepts, to break away from Oriental traditions: a national spirit and oxidtal state in the process. With new people for these new situations. The reactionary party requires the continuation of the Turkish system and spirit of administration with the old state of affairs. Nationalists also want to nationalize cults. The two leaders of current Albania, as much as Esad Pasha as Ismail Bay Kemal, are part of the reactionary party, using and imposing Turkish language on administration instead of national language, what is scandalous.

Both political parties agree on the appointment of a foreign prince? Is Prince Wied acceptable to these parties?

The reactors, adapting their principles and views, want a Muslim prince, while nationalists, having no national dynasty, seek foreign princes. The people, as tired of such turmoil, wanting to escape from internal wars and knowing that Prince of Hamed is the beloved of the Great Powers, have accepted him quietly.

How can the latest Turkish plot in Albania be explained?

Very simply: the leading classes, impoverished after the war and in need of money, took money and conspired in the interest of the one who paid and paid.

What's your master's business with these two “em vgue” [f. in fashion, A. P.] now in Albania: Esad Pasha and Ismail Bay Kemal?

Ismail Bay Kemal, a Byzantine <x0file”, corrupted by soul and customs, without ideal and without principle, ready for all compromises. Esad Pasha is a medieval “contier”, which does not even know the methods of a modern statesman. It's from Abdul Hamid's school, from which he's kept a live plaster. But it is energetic and could be used to restore order in Albania if well - directed. By their nature you will also understand their acts.

What do your master predict of the new Albanian state?

Albania, which has emerged from a terrible crisis (four years of uprising and a year of invasion, five years of turmoil) and has been dominated for four centuries by the brutality and ill - rule of the Turkish regime, lies near the point of being ill, not easy to stand up for, but that I am absolutely convinced of its vitality, energy, and future. ”
