The three main candidates to succeed Chancellor Angela Merkel as chairman of the Christian Democrat Union (CDU) presented their ideas to party supporters gathered today in the northern town of Luebek.
Comments made by party secretary-general Annegret Krarenbauer, 56, viewed as the main favourite, received the longest applause.
“The CDU must be restored as an internal security party, law and rule”, she said.
