Dawn, NASA probe that explored the two largest objects in the asteroid belt, is no longer in operation after eleven years in space, mission leaders announced today.
Scientists were aware of the fact about a month ago. ”Dawn” was running out of fuel, hydrazine, which carried the space shuttle antenna to Earth and helped guide its solar panels toward the sun to recharge.
The probe then lost the communications planned with NASA on Wednesday and Thursday, and the US space agency officially declared it off, Pash follows.
The fact that my license plate support reports that my other vehicle is in the main belt of asteroids “shows how proud I feel about Dawn”, stated mission director Marc Rayman.
