The West, as yet, is trying to bring Macedonia into NATO, even after the name-changing referendum, Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokeswoman Marija Zaharova said in the regular weekly press communique.
As the T transmits The ASS, Zaharova said that the visible “goal of Western countries is to place Macedonia at any price in NATO”.
Zaharova's reaction comes after yesterday's statement by NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, that NATO will admit Macedonia to its ranks in early 2019, which according to Zaharova is illegal because the parliaments of Macedonia and Greece must first make the decision.
“If we talk about non-involvement in internal affairs, then we don't dare to touch “for” and “against”, if we talk about referenda. If we talk about respect for the law, including the internationals, then the first man in a state bloc dares not speak of the decision that should bring about the parliament of a country”, Zaharieva, the spokesperson for the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said.
