With the veterans' indictment, how about the Court?

The prosecution is working on completing the indictment for the subject known as the case of the fake <x0-veternian”, which has been returned to the Special Prosecutor for completion and clarification.

Prosecutor Sylla Hoxha, charged with communicating with the media by the Kosovo Special Prosecutor, tells Radio Free Europe that it is currently working on eliminating shortcomings the court has deemed incomplete in the indictment.

After meeting the remarks or shortcomings given, the indictment will be delivered on the normal path to the procedure, like any other indictment or as sent earlier”, Hoxha says.

The Kosovo Institute for Justice estimates that this case, from the justice system, is deliberately prolonged.

In this institution that monitors the work of prosecutors and courts, the Prosecution is not paying due attention to this case.

Ehat Mifaraj, executive director of the Kosovo Institute for Justice, tells Radio Free Europe that it is to regret how the Special Prosecutor is handling the case.

“actually, what's going on with this indictment is what we, as a public, are afraid, that for cases like this, the table tennis game will start playing, it means turning back to the Court of the Prosecutor, spending deadlines, and going through the corridors of the Court and Prosecutor's Office”, Miftaraj points out.

The Special Prosecutor of the Republic of Kosovo had filed an indictment, which he sent to the Constitutional Court in Pristina against 12 defendants, for the subject known in the opinion as the authorities, in the direction of the criminal offence of official office or authority.

But later, the Constitutional Court in Pristina, this indictment has returned it to the Special Prosecutor of the Republic of Kosovo for fulfillment and clarification.

Miftaraj says it is meaningless how a special prosecutor raises an indictment and the same is incomplete and returns to the Prosecutor.

“We have criticised the approach of the state prosecutor where, in such an indictment, there has been a change in demanding that, in the case of false veterans, a provisional request be filed, as well as the same indictment as to include surname names, personal data of over 20 thousand persons”.

“A tactic and such approach of the Prosecutor has automatically sent messages to the public that the goal is more to prolonging than to be handled in court”, Miftaraj explains.

The organisation of the War Veterans of the former Kosovo Liberation Army requires Kosovo institutions that the veterans' status issue return to zero point.

Directors of the organisation say this must be done in order to clear up everything and remove suspicions about fraud veterans.

The justice system in Kosovo continues to remain exposed to political influence, and this impact is in various forms, the officials of Kosovo's high institutions assess, as well as connoisseurs of judicial issues in the country.

The case, which has sparked debate and controversy in recent months not only in opinion but also among institutional leaders, is the case of “veterans' list”.
