Working with the American president, Donald Trump, is not always easy.

So the Canadian prime minister, Justin Trudeau, has at least said, that in not a few cases he's crashed with the American leader, but that this time he has shown himself pleased with the successful renegotiation of the North American Free Trade Agreement.

Speaking of Canadian media, Trudeau said he had a focus during his work on protecting Canadian interests, and has done so with the trade agreement between the United States, Canada and Mexico. Asked about the relationship with Trump, Trudeau cautiously said it is not always easy.

He knows that, so do I. We are not on a line on many issues and sometimes it's hard to find common ground, but we have managed to make it through”, Trudeau said.

Relations between the two leaders were affected not least in June, when Trump named Trudeau dishonest and weak after he left the G7 summit that was held in Canada.

In the interview, Trudeau also defended the legalisation of cannabis, one of its promises in electoral campaigns and materialised on October 17th. According to him, 90 years of ban had not worked; instead, only the pockets of organized crime had been filled.
