At the Kosovo Republic Assembly session, it is being debated on various topics in the country, and MPs are presenting criticism, questions and complaints of citizens.

In his presentation, PSD deputy Faton Topalli spoke up for construction workers who lost their lives in the workplace.

In this case, he called for institutional responsibility, changes in the Labour Law and insurance for workers at the workplace, and covering expenses during injuries.

“in Kosovo has lost 93 workers in the construction sector and 230 others have been injured. They are not registered at all as working categories, they simply do not exist. Not only 93 workers, but the others alive are out of the agenda at the Ministry of Labour and Social Management, off the agenda of the Labour Law outside the Inspectorate. In the case of workplace injuries, costs are high, and all employers should also be committed to their families and employees. Workman and citizen's life is very cheap. That assumption is reality in Kosovo. I'm sure there will be cases like this in the future of workers dying at work”, Topalli said.

Furthermore, MP Topalli has called Kosovo workers heroes who are not protected by anyone.

The problem is that for their defense nobody's doing anything. A National Council must be formed, adopting and drafting policies for workers' safety. For 15 thousand work heroes who risk their lives to make ends meet. Such a council did not function well, and this shows the value of citizen life in Kosovo. The labor law needs change and reform, the creation of funds and security that would allow for merited treatment of 17,”, has been completed.
